Steve M
The MV/4000 was my introduction to the world of Data General machines and I first came into contact with it around the end of 1986. Our MV/4000 was the development and test box for our systems which targeted MV/10000s in production. This little box supported about half a dozen developers, a couple of testers, and also fulfilled some departmental duties for the hoardes of IBMers along the corridor as we had a couple of line printers, the HASP and/or RJE software and a bisynchronous link to the development mainframe.
Development took place in a mixture of PL/1, INFOS_II, MASM, and a little COBOL and TPMS. The old-timers used SPEED and SED whereas the youngsters preferred EMACS.
