Standalone

The following programs were shipped for use when AOS/VS was not running.

TBOOT

Everything starts with this - the Tape Bootstrap.

DFMTR

The Disk ForMaTteR - prepares disks for use by AOS/VS. There is also a stand-among version of this in :UTIL.

FIXUP

For AOS/VS “Classic” only (i.e. pre-AOS/VS II) this repairs disks that were not dismounted properly, eg. after a power failure, unplanned shutdown, etc. There is also a stand-among version of this in :UTIL.

INSTL

The system INSTaLler - copies a minimal version of AOS/VS onto a newly-formatted disk.

PCOPY

Physical COPY - does a block-by-block copy of one device to another. There is also a stand-among version of this in :UTIL.

SYSBOOT

Part of the SYStem BOOTstrap on an AOS/VS system (root) disk.
